EGR Throttle Task

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve in a Scania XPI Euro 5 vehicle is responsible for recirculating (re-introducing) part of the exhaust gases from the exhaust system into the engine intake system. The main purpose of the EGR valve is to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by lowering the combustion temperature. It opens and closes the flow of exhaust gases between the exhaust system and the intake system. During normal engine operation, the EGR valve opens and part of the exhaust gases are redirected from the exhaust system back to the intake system. There, the exhaust gases mix with the intake air and are reintroduced into the engine cylinders for combustion. The exhaust gas recirculation process leads to a lower combustion temperature, which translates into reduced nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions. Nitrogen oxides are produced at high combustion temperatures and contribute to air pollution and health problems. The EGR valve reduces these emissions, helping you meet exhaust emission standards.
