2. How does Mascus work?

  • Mascus is clearly structured and easy to use. It offers you a clear path for finding a solution for your specific needs whether you want to buy, sell, or find a piece of heavy equipment or transportation vehicle.
  • Mascus gathers pre-owned equipment on the market under one roof so that you can have the most up-to-date and comprehensive information available.
  • Mascus brings buyers and sellers together and allows them to negotiate the terms of the purchase, payments and transport of the equipment. Mascus is not a party to a purchase transaction.

3. Who can buy pre-owned equipment through Mascus?

  • Anyone - private individuals, entrepreneurs or companies. Anyone who is interested in acquiring pre-owned equipment.

4. What does the buyer pay for the Mascus service?

  • Finding a suitable piece of equipment through Mascus is a free service for the buyer. A buyer can browse through pre-owned equipment, register as a user and contact a seller for free

5. How do I contact a seller?

  • After you have found a product that suits your needs you can contact the seller directly either by phone, fax or email. If you buy used equipment regularly, we encounrage you to register and benefit from all the free services we offer

6. How do I pay for the equipment?

  • You negotiate the terms of payment with the seller.
  • Payment is not handled through the Mascus service.

7. What is the difference between a privately placed ad and an invoiced customer ad?

  • If you are an invoiced customer of Mascus and place an ad or change the details of your ad, your new ad or the changes you’ve made will be visible online within an hour.
  • If you are a private person and place an ad or change its content, Mascus will check the ad for illegal, misleading or false content. Due to this security measure, private ads or changes to ads will not be visible on Mascus until they are cleared. This can take up to 72 hours. After it has been approved, you will receive a notification e-mail and your ad or the changes you’ve made will be visible online within one hour.
  • Aside from that, an invoiced customer can purchase the option to have his company logo appear on his product cards and also in the search results when his ad is displayed.

8. Who can sell equipment through the Mascus service.

  • Anyone can place pre-owned equipment
  • for sale on the Mascus service.
  • Most of the sellers are dealers of well-known brands. A seller can also be a private individual, entrepreneur, financing company or a manufacturer.

9. Can foreign buyers see my ads?

  • Yes they can. Your potential customer base increases as Mascus expands globally.
  • The buyer can select the language that best suits his needs as well as the currency of the price information.

10. How much does it cost to advertise on the Mascus service?

  • The seller pays a fee which is determined according to the valid pricelist.
  • The more ads a seller places at a time, the lower the price each ad becomes.
  • The ad will become visible in the Mascus service after it has been paid for.
  • Ads are paid through the the banks Internet services or quarterly invoices.
  • Each ad will be visible for 60 days on the Mascus service unless the machine is sold before the period expires.

11. How do I get a VAT receipt for my ad payment?

  • After you have paid for your ad, you can print-out the web page and use it as a receipt. The receipt includes all the necessary details.

12. Why should I register as a Mascus user?

  • Registration is free and simple to complete.
  • As a registered Mascus user you'll have a personal front page in the service which you can modify to suit your needs. On the front page you can, for example, add equipment to your favourites list for closer comparison, save the best search parameters, follow the bids you have made, change units, and perform numerous other tasks. You can always get straight to the point and don't have to waste your time, redefining your search parameters or re-entering your contact data, for example.

13. How do I use the Mascus search engine?

  • Once the Mascus site opens you can type the product you are looking for in the fee text search or chose the product from the categories under, for example tractors.
  • If you find more than one ad, you can compare the used equipment via compare tool.
  • If you can't find a suitable product in the Mascus service, you can place a want ad. We will notify you immediately by email, when a product matching your ad is placed for sale in the Mascus service.
  • If you wish, you can contact the seller directly through our pages. You can either leave a contact request or make a preliminary bid for the equipment.

14. How do I get back to the start-up page?

  • The easiest way to go to the start-up page is to click on Buy Tab in the upper left window.

15. How often should I visit the Mascus Internet service?

  • Daily. Use equipment ads are added every day and the fastest users react quickly by making preliminary bids to the sellers.
  • We aim to keep the Mascus pages clear and targeted to professionals so that no time is wasted in using them.

16. What services does Mascus offer?

  • Mascus offers financial and transportation services to its clients and can be accessed by clicking on the respective links.
  • We continuously develop new Internet-based services with our partners.

17. What sort of monthly financing costs should I expect?

  • You can calculate your monthly payments using the financing calculator provided by our financing company partner. This will show you the cost of monthly installments and interest. You can examine the effect of different financing options on the monthly payments.
  • You can send a credit application to a financing company directly from the Mascus service.
  • After you receive a financing decision, you can negotiate the details of the purchase with the seller.
  • If you have any questions about the credit application, contact the financing service provider.

18. Can I arrange for transport of the pre-owned equipment from the Mascus service?

  • You can send a call for a quote by email to a Mascus transportation company partner.
  • We continuously develop our electronic transport services with our partners.

19. I have forgotten my password. What do I do?

  • If you have forgotten your password, click the "Did you forget your password?" link. Then enter your email address (the same one you provided upon registration), and your password will be emailed to you.

20. I have registered as a user, but I can't log on to the service.

  • If you have registered as a user, but you can't log on to the service, please claim your password again from the link “Did you forget your password?"

21. What is a cache memory?

  • Internet browsers use a cache memory where the pages you visit while online are stored. In other words, the pages are saved on your computer to speed up the browsing process. This, unfortunately means that anyone can read the information saved in the cache file which therefore jeopardizes information security.

22. What does secured connection mean and what is SSL?

  • Originally developed for the Netscape browser, the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) security procedure is now a standard feature in most browser applications. SSL protects the data transfer between an individual workstation and our servers by encrypting the data. Encrypted data can only be used in these two computers.
  • Mascus uses secured connection during payments. The encryption key is not connection-specific - the key is created in the beginning of connection. It changes during connection and it is recreated as necessary.
  • The browser application indicates to the user that the SSL-security feature is being used. For example, in Internet Explorer, there is an image of a lock when SSL is in use.
